28th August: Lunchtime Concert – Music for Flute, Harp and Piano

In the last of our Tuesdays Till Two summer concerts we are delighted to welcome back three of our most popular performers: pianist Bruce Burbidge, harpist Rowena Bass, and flutist Deirdre Culloty, who last year attracted our biggest ever audience for a lunchtime concert, when more than 150 people heard them perform Mozart’s Flute & Harp Concerto. We’ll let you know what they have in store for this year as soon as they tell us!

As usual the café will be open from noon, serving a range of hot drinks and homemade quiche, cakes, scones etc. All profits from the café will go to The Green Backyard.

The concert will begin promptly at 1pm. Admission is free, but those who are able to afford it are asked to make a donation. The suggested amount is £5.

About the musicians:

Bruce Burbidge began his study of the piano in Canada with Rick Pritchard and continued in England with Rowan Otaki. He now performs mostly as an accompanist, alongside teaching philosophy and playing the organ.

Rowena Bass trained as a harpist at the Royal College of Music and is skilfully able to combine a professional orchestral and chamber music career with her role as a Church of England vicar.

Deirdre Culloty studied the flute at the Royal Northern College of Music in her home city of Manchester with Trevor Wye, and with Clare Southworth. She is involved now in local music, particularly with the City of Peterborough Symphony Orchestra.

Bruce, Rowena and Deirdre have been playing together for several years and enjoy exploring the possibilities offered by their combination of instruments.
